Happy Birthday, J.R.R. Tolkien draconicverses, January 3, 2012 Today marks the 120th birthday of Prof. John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. As the world knows, he created the world of Middle-earth with its Hobbits, Rangers, Orcs, Ringwraiths and such. It’s a testament to this quiet man’s brilliance that THE LORD OF THE RINGS was the most read book of the 20th century -second only to the Bible- and that it’s impact is STILL being felt today, through film, video games, and the hundreds of authors that he inspired. I know this, as I’m one of those authors, or at least I’m attempting to be one of those authors. The scale and scope he created and crafted are beyond what so many have even attempted. So on behalf of those authors, and on behalf of the millions of fans of your works, I want to wish you a happy birthday, Prof. Tolkien. I also want to thank you for all you created.
