Prince Sirki Frees the Genie

Oh, my Friends and Fiends, I am heartsick.

Words escape me. This is beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most difficult Sirki’s Summons that I’ve ever written. I almost can’t write these words, but I have to.

One of the funniest men in the world, Robin Williams, has died at the age of 63.
I’ve been a fan of his since he first exploded onto television as Mork from Ork, first on an episode of Happy Days and then on his own show, Mork and Mindy.

Aside from that lunatic alien, many of his film roles brought him back to the worlds of fantasy from playing an amnesiac, grown up Peter Pan in Steven Spielberg’s Hook (1991) to playing a man traversing Heaven itself to find his true love in Vincent Ward’s What Dreams May Come (1998) to the titular spinach eating sailor man in Robert Altman’s Popeye (1980) to providing the voice of the phenomenally cosmic powered Genie in Disney’s Aladdin (1992).

It is not yet confirmed, but it is being reported as a suspected suicide which would seem to be the case when acknowledged by his representatives that he had been having a battle with depression recently. In a statement to the media, his wife asked that he be remembered for his work and not the circumstances of his death. I certainly agree with that. Which is why I made this particular graphic. Thank you Mr. Williams, for all of the laughter and tears. Rest in peace. Just like the Genie, you are now free.
