Lost In Space’s Maj. West, Mark Goddard passes Away at 87

WOW. We’ve been taking it on the chin this week with legendary passings. The Shinigami are working overtime!
News comes today that Mark Goddard, best known as Major Don West – handsome, brash pilot of the Jupiter II – on LOST IN SPACE (1965 -1968), has passed way at age 87.

The original LIS was the story of the Robinson family, their pilot, their security Robot, & the stowaway, Doctor Smith, getting blasted off course in their exploration of space, finally crash landing on a hostile planet. Major West was the love interest of the eldest Robinson daughter, Judy (Marta Kristin) and the foil/foe of Doctor Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris), who’d stowed away on the spacecraft, originally for sinister purposes.

Mr Goddard had been hospitalized recently for a rough bout with pneumonia.
