Prince Sirki Claims The Creator of Pern draconicverses, November 25, 2011 Many of you know how important THE LORD OF THE RINGS is to me, but the second series of fantasy books I read after that were The Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey. On my 14th birthday, I got a neat present. the first Pern trilogy, consisting of DRAGONFLIGHT, DRAGONQUEST and THE WHITE DRAGON. I fell in love with this new world almost as much as Middle Earth and it made me love Dragons even more than I already did. The books were also something I could share with certain special people. My own created world, which housed the Kingdom of DragonWynde took on aspects of both settings, though nothing more than inspiration. Creating a whole world with such a complex caste system and religious beliefs was quite a task, but Ms. McCaffrey certainly crafted it masterfully and this served to inspire me to strive to perfect my own, even more so. I was so sad to hear of Ms. McCaffrey’s passing this past Wednesday, November 23, 2011, as no doubt the rest of her legions of fans were. If you haven’t read these wonderful books, I urge you to do so. I rendered a quick 3d piece in Daz Studio to honor her memory and to thank her for inspiring me. I only hope it’s good enough.
