Prince Sirki Claims Romero’s First Zombie

It’s now being widely reported that veteran horror actor, Bill Hinzman has passed away at 75, after a bout with cancer. For those not in the know, Mr. Hinzman played the first zombie in George Romero’s classic NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, aka ‘The Cemetery Zombie’. He was the first modern cinema zombie of the ‘shambling, flesh-craving’ variety that Romero made famous, and has been the norm ever since. Mr. Hinzman was the zombie who crept up while Johnny famously intoned, “They’re coming to get you, Barbara!”, killed him and then chased Barbara through the field, into her car and to the farmhouse. From all reports, he was a very nice guy, and a staple at horror cons, who always gave his fans the time they wanted for pictures, and autographs. Rest in peace, good sir.
