Prince Sirki Summons Commander McHale draconicverses, July 8, 2012 Very sad news today. There are few names in Hollywood that resonates with multiple generations. We lost one of those names today. If you grew up in the 60s – 70s, you think “McHale’s Navy”. If you grew up in the 80s, you think “Airwolf”. Kids from the 90s to now think”Mermaid Man”, from Spongebob Squarepants. I’m talking about Ernest Borgnine. An Oscar winning actor, with many memorable film roles, both large and small, perhaps he’ll best be remembered for the comedy set in the South Pacific during WWII, McHale’s Navy. He starred as Quinton McHale, a PT Boat Skipper and con artist extraordinaire, always looking to make a fast buck and any chance to embarass ‘Old Leadbelly’, Admiral Binghamton, the Island’s hapless commander. On Airwolf, he played helicoptor mechanic and engineering whiz Dom Santini, charged with caring for the amazing super-copter. And as the voice of Spongebob’s favorite hero, Mermaid Man (a parody of Aquaman in his elder years) he reached out to young and old alike. Rest now, good sir. Mermaid Man’s battle against “The EE-vil” has ended. Thank you for all the laughs and love over the years. Movies News The Dragon Remembers... TV AirwolfErnest BorgnineMcHale's NavyMermaid Man
