Happy Anniversary, A Clockwork Orange! draconicverses, January 13, 2014 It was 42 years ago today that saw the release of Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange (1972), starring Malcolm McDowell. Adapted from Anthony Burgess’ 1962 novella of the same name, the movie paints a picture of the dystopian future Great Britain, rife with juvenile delinquency and “ultra-violence”. The main character, Alex (McDowell), enjoys Beethoven and rape. The movie centers on his actions and subsequent punishment of radical aversion therapy. I’ll let you discover the rest for yourself. For you youngsters out there who may never have seen this, the star of this movie is that “old British guy” in those new Sprint social media commercials with “the guy that does Darth Vader’s voice”.
